In this backyard, we installed a blend of stone and plantings to create an inviting outdoor living space. Bordering the patio is one of our favorite perennials, a special purple Geranium that blooms from June through October!

Before

Inspired by classic landscape design principles, we created a simple and elegant swimming pool landscape. We installed a grove of River Birch trees at the far end of the pool that are aligned on the central axis of the pool and the house. The ornamental trees not only provide some summer privacy from the neighbors, they also provide a design element that accents the formal nature of the swimming pool shape.

We designed the axis of the swimming pool to align with the center axis of the house creating harmony between the architecture of the house and the landscape architecture.

In this formerly small backyard, we cut into the slope enlarging the outdoor living space and installed a fun backyard for children with a swimming pool, slide, grotto, spa, and outdoor fireplace.

On this steep slope, we installed some large stone slab steps to provide access from the upper patio down to the pool patio. In addition to being functional, the steps add an interesting architectural element to the overall landscape design.

After removing the small pond and a few trees, we designed and installed a large koi pond that features multiple streams and waterfalls, as well as a variety of colorful plantings that line the edges of the new pond and streams.
