An existing fine gardening client in Montville, NJ asked us to design and install a pondless water feature that would be part of his existing garden beds. We added some significant ornamental trees and a variety of flowering plants, perennials and annuals. We installed some driftwood pieces for texture and to accent the natural elements of the water feature.
It is a unique water feature because the client didn’t want it to be next to a patio or near the house, but rather only wanted it visible while walking through remote areas of his backyard to create a unique experience.
The client’s love of color throughout the summer months is enhanced with the use of large growing coleus, cleomes, and other tall annuals.
We originally created most of this Montville, NJ homeowner’s design years ago and since then, our fine gardening team comes in every two weeks to maintain the gardens and keep their yard looking lush and colorful. Each year we begin with a spring startup that includes pruning, multiple fertilizers, weed preventative, and shredded hardwood bark mulch. Planter displays of perennials and annuals are changed four times a year and are “in tune” with the season.
Overall, when the client walks through his backyard, with or without guests, it pleasantly surprises you as it seems an unexpected delight. It is a true Hidden Gem.
