DENVILLE SUNSET DREAMSCAPE
This Denville project transformed a plain, unused, sloping backyard into a fully-integrated outdoor living environment. The original site offered only a basic deck and lawn with no defined gathering spaces. We had started working on an enlarged patio and fire pit area when the client asked if a swimming pool could be designed into their backyard. At first, we thought it would be easy based on the space available.
The centerpiece is a swimming pool framed with multiple boulder walls, rockeries and planting beds that provide stability and beauty. One of the most striking elements is the 10′ high multi-tiered natural stone waterfall that cascades into the pool. The waterfall needed to be large enough to hide the pool equipment due to setback requirements.
We soon found out that an AT&T easement reduced their buildable space dramatically. Also, town setback lines were atypical so we were restricted to a fairly tight building envelope. Our design reimagined the space, incorporating multiple levels, walkways and uses.

The pool area and lower patio establish clear outdoor destinations for lounging, dining, and entertaining. A fire table and relocated hot tub were situated to connect seamlessly with the new design, while low-voltage lighting allows night usage and creates an ambiance year-round.
The final result is an inviting landscape that elevates the property into a multi-level outdoor environment while focusing on sunset views that were important to the client, making it a true sunset dreamscape!
