Since its inception over 50 years ago, CLC Landscape Design has been a leader in design/build landscaping by blending classic design concepts with cutting-edge ideas. We consistently incorporate new and improved plant varieties, hardscape materials, and installation techniques into our landscapes. With vast knowledge of landscape design principles and material options, we tailor each landscape to reflect the unique style of every client.
CLCβs success has led to many long-term relationships – some clients have been with us for over 30 years. Likewise, nearly all of our employees have worked with us for over a decade, with some reaching the 30-year mark. These lasting relationships have created a family-like atmosphere at CLC and a positive energy that translates into exceptional client experiences.
After proudly serving as an officer in the United States Navy, I joined CLC Landscape Design, and now as a team, my father and I continue to share our belief thatΒ Great Landscapes Begin with Great Design Ideas.

Rich Cording, Sr.
Founder & Licensed Landscape Architect
Rich Cording, Sr., LLA, ASLA, CNLP is a licensed landscape architect who founded CLC Landscape Design over 50 years ago. He oversees each landscape design, meets with clients, trains employees, and coordinates the production schedule. He is involved in all facets of CLCβs operations. In addition to being a licensed landscape architect, Rich Sr. is a Certified Landscape Nursery Professional and a specialist in designing and installing Rain Gardens and Water Gardens. His professional passions include green design and sustainable design ideas. His proudest accomplishment was having his home featured in Better Homes & Gardens and on TV. Aside from his love of landscape architecture, he enjoys keeping his many bird feeders filled, hiking, playing basketball, and spending time with his wife, four children, two grandchildren, and two dogs.
Rich Cording, Jr.
Design & Project Manager
Rich Cording, Jr., MLD, an Eagle Scout, studied at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and Oxford University in England. He served as a US Navy officer on board the USS JOHN S. McCAIN (DDG-56)stationed in Tokyo, Japan. After those adventures, he completed his graduate work at Columbia University in New York City earning a Master of Landscape Design. At CLC, he works alongside his father being involved in all aspects of the business, from landscape design to project management. Professionally, his passion is plantings. He loves to create long-blooming, low-maintenance plantings that offer multiple seasons of interest. When he is not at work, he enjoys landscape photography, hiking, and spending time with his wife and two children.
Eric Cording
Sales & Design Coordinator
After achieving a B.S. degree from Bloomsburg University, Eric Cording joined his brother and father working in the construction division of CLC Landscape Design. He then earned a Landscape Design Certificate from Rutgers University, and for the last few years he has been in charge of sales and designs. Eric and his father work with their team of seven full-time landscape architects and landscape designers to produce the majority of CLCβs finest work. Eric is also a licensed Real Estate Agent and enjoys playing basketball with his father!

Our in-house project managers coordinate every detail – from design and budgeting to execution, so you donβt have to manage multiple moving parts.
What should I expect in terms of cost for the initial consultation?
There is no cost for your initial landscape consultation.
Weβll meet with you on-site to evaluate your property, discuss your goals, and share design ideas tailored specifically to your space. Every landscape has unique conditions, and every homeowner has different prioritiesβso this first step is essential to creating a plan that works for you.
From the beginning, we design with your budget in mindβproviding clear, honest guidance on whatβs realistic and how to maximize your investment. Whether your focus is high-end design or staying within a specific budget, we align our recommendations to deliver the best possible result without compromising quality.
Based on the scope of your project, we take the next step accordingly:
For projects that donβt require a full landscape design plan, weβll provide a detailed estimate to install the ideas discussed during your consultation.
For larger or more complex projects, weβll recommend a comprehensive landscape design plan and provide a proposal to guide your project from concept through execution.

Is there a recommended season for landscape installation?
This varies per item, so let us provide some helpful guidance:
- Plantings. April until frost, often December.
- Sod Lawns. April until frost, often December.
- Seed Lawns. April, May, September, October are the four best months, however, if you will be diligent at watering a new seed lawn, you can install a new seed lawn in the summer months.
- Hardscape. Anytime the ground is not frozen.
- Swimming Pool. Anytime the ground is not frozen.
What if I donβt have time to manage a landscape project?
Thatβs exactly where we come in. We handle the planning, coordination, and communication with all necessary professionals, giving you clarity and confidence from start to finishβwithout the typical stress.
